The philosophy of Jacob Sigismund Beck (1761-1840) has always been viewed as a transitional moment in the overall development of post-Kantian idealism. Against this accepted view, I argue that Beck’s Standpunktslehre is a unique development of Kant’s thought, and that it also represents an original and worthwhile contribution to philosophy in general. I have interpreted Beck's ‘phenomenological' version of Kant's critical idealism by placing it within its proper historical context-- viz., the pursuit of the goal first defined byJ.H. Three Monetarist models--the Netherlands Bank Model, the Polak Model and the St. Louis Model--are critically examined in this study. A structural model has been set up for the St. Louis Model, showing some missing links and variables. The reduced-form approach should not be applied recklessly, i.e. without constructing its theoretical structural equations. Furthermore, in empirical studies, the concepts of stock and flow, and time references and time dimensions should be properly specified; failure to do so can lead to difficulties in interpretation. The biology of Metorchis conjunctus has been examined in the present research. In light of the marked morphometric and morphological variations observed in adult digeneans the taxonomic status of various species of Metorchis is questionable. This research has provided detailed descriptions of both encysted and excysted metacercariae of M. conjunctus which were recovered from Catostomus commersoni, Semotilis corporalis and C. catostomus. Prevalences, intensities and distributions of metacercariae in the piscine host have been reported. Variations in the data have been noted and discussed. Cette thèse examine l'interaction entre une théorie particulière de la grammaire, la version standard étendue de la grammaire générative, et l'acquisition du langage. On y discute le genre d'explication qu'une théorie restrictive de la grammaire peut fournir pour l'acquisition, de même que le genre de prédictions qu'elle peut être susceptible de faire. On y discute également comment l'étude des faits d'acquisition doit être en mesure de formuler, des propositions pour la théorie. Les données d'acquisition sont considerées comme faisant partie des données dont la theorie de la grammaire doit rendre compte. D'habitude on pense qu'il existe chez le système nerveux central des centres respiratoires qui répondent aux stimuli en changeant leur activité. Ici on propose une nouvelle méthode pour mesurer l'état d'activation des centres respiratoires qui est de boucher la voie aérienne au début de l'inspiration et d'enregistrer la pression négative produite par l'effort des muscles inspiratoires. Au cours d'une série d'expériences, les enfants sourds et les enfants normaux durent discriminer ou reproduire des séquences rythmiques. Ces rythmes étaient présentés d'une manière visuelle, auditoire (beaucoup amplifiés pour les sourds), et, à une des expériences, d'une manière tactile. Quoique les sourds, aussi bien que les enfants normaux, aient pu discriminer d'une manière visuelle et tactile les séquences qu'on leur avait présentées, il apparut que ces sourds firent preuve d'une insuffisance, par rapport aux enfants normaux, à reproduire des rythmes, même présentés visuellement. Samples of fac and mer carbonyltrihydridotris(triphenylphosphine)iridium (III) were prepared and fully characterized by i.r., ('1)H and ('31)P n.m.r. spectroscopies. Isomeric interconversion at 25(DEGREES) C was demonstrated. The rates of isomerization and hydrogen loss from each isomer were independently measured. The similarity of these rates strongly supports a mechanism by which isomerization occurs through the oxidative addition and reductive elimination of molecular hydrogen. The results of deuterium labelling experiments were consistent with the isomerization mechanism, and further suggest that either trans-oxidative addition of hydrogen or intramolecular hydride interchange in the mer isomer may occur.
