Les pages qui suivent traitent d’une bibliothèque unique en Amérique du Nord, la Bibliothèque Braille de l’Institut Nazareth et Louis-Braille, à Longueuil. Vous y apprendrez son histoire presque centenaire, son fonctionnement, l’état de sa collection, ses projets. L’auteur de l’article est aujourd’hui présidente et directrice de la Bibliothèque Jeanne-Cypihot, corporation sans but lucratif avec laquelle l’Institut et diverses instances gouvernementales ont entrepris une réflexion concernant un éventuel transfert de la collection braille. Ce nouvel organisme diffusera sous peu, sous forme de prêt, des livres-disquettes en braille, produits à partir des fichiers-sources d’éditeurs québécois.

Abstract

The following article describes the Braille Library of the Institut Nazareth et Louis-Braille in Longueuil, a unique library in North America. The reader will learn about its nearly 100-year history, its management, the nature of the collection and the current projects. The author is the president and director of the Bibliothèque Jeanne-Cypihot, a non-profit organisation which the Institut and several governement bodies are using to study the transfert of the Braille collection. This new organisation will lend book-disquettes in Braille produced from the source-files of Québec publishers.

Las páginas siguientes tratan de una biblioteca única en América del Norte, la Biblioteca Braille del lnstituto Nazareth y Louis-Braille, en Longueuil. Aprenderemos su historia casi centenaria, su funcionamiento, el estado du su colección y sus proyectos. La autora del artículo es hoy presidente y directora de la Biblioteca Jeanne-Cypihot, corporación sin fines lucrativos, con la cual el Instituto y diversas instancias gubernamentales han empezado una reflexión a propósito de un traslado eventual de la colección Braille. Este nuevo organismo difundira dentro de poco, en forma de préstamo, libros-discos en Braille, producidos a partir de algunos ficheros-fuentes de editores quebequenses.
