RÉSUMÉ

La composition chimique des magmas de trois téphras que l'on trouve dans des tourbières en Auvergne a été déterminée. Elle a permis de distinguer la Téphra du Montchal (trachybasalte potassique) de celle du Montcineyre (basanite) qui sont pratiquement synchrones vers 6000 BP. La Téphra de La Taphanei (8500 BP, Boréal) est un trachyte. Deux diagrammes polliniques antérieurs font état de la présence de pollen de Tilia (Atlantique) au niveau de la Téphra de La Taphanei, voire même sous elle. Une nouvelle étude de cinq tourbières démontre : (i) que des grains de pollen isolés de Tilia ne sont pas observés dans plus de 17 % des niveaux d'âge boréal; (ii) que leur présence est plus fréquente au-dessus de la Téphra de La Taphanei; (iii) que la courbe continue de Tilia ne commence que bien au-dessus de la Téphra de La Taphanei, lorsqu'il n'y a pas de lacune dans la séquence.

ABSTRACT

The chemical composition of magmas of three tephras present in peat-bogs in Auvergne was determined. This enables to distinguish the Montchal Tephra (potassic trachybasalt) and the Montcineyre Tephra (basanite) that are almost synchronous at about 6000 yrs BP. The La Taphanei Tephra (8500 yrs BP, Boreal) is a trachyte. Two previous pollen diagrams show that Tilia pollen (Atlantic) is present at the level of the tephra or even below it. A new pollen study of five peatbogs demonstrates that: (i) traces of Tilia pollen appear in no more than 17 % of the Boreal levels, (ii) their occurrences is greater above the La Taphanei Tephra; (iii) the continuous curve of Tilia begins much higher than the La Taphanei Tephra, if no gap occurs.

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

Die chemische Zusamenset-zung von drei Tephren, die aus Torfmooren der NW Auvergne stammen, wurde bestimmt. Aufgrund der Untersuchungen lassen sich die Montchal Tephra (K-Trachybasalt) und die Montcineyre Tephra (Basanit), die beide mit einem Alter von ca. 6000 Jahren vor Heute fast gleichaltrig sind, unterscheiden. Die La Taphanei Tephra hat eine trachytische Zusammensetzung und wurde im Boreal vor ca. 8500 Jahren gefôrdert. Zwei fruheren Pollendiagramme weisen darauf hin daBT/7/a Pollen (Atlantikum) im Oder unterhalb des Tephrahori-zontes vorhanden sind. Eine neue Unter-suchung aus funf Torfmooren zeigt : (i) daB einzelne Pollenkôrne von Tilia in nicht mehr als 17% der boreaizeitlichen Proben gefunden wurden ; (ii) daB diese Pollen haufiger im Hangenden als im Liegenden der La Taphanei Tephra vorkommen ; (iii) daB die continuirliche Tilia Kurve oberhalb der La Taphanei Tephra beginnt, falls keine Lucke im Pollendiagramm vorhanden ist.
