Note biographique
Guillaume Marcotte est né en 1979 à Malartic (Abitibi). S’intéressant très tôt à l’histoire coloniale et autochtone, il devient vers 2005 chercheur indépendant. Le but premier de ses recherches est de documenter la présence des Canadiens et Métis francophones impliqués dans la traite des fourrures du nord-ouest québécois et du nord-est ontarien pendant la période britannique. La rédaction d’un ouvrage portant sur ce sujet est en cours. Entre-temps, il a été artisan spécialisé en reproduction d’artefacts autochtones et canadiens liés à la traite des fourrures du 19e siècle. M. Marcotte est aujourd’hui étudiant au Baccalauréat en enseignement de l’histoire et de la géographie au secondaire, à l’UQAT.
