Abstract
Few studies have examined the characteristics of music that are effective in supporting mindfulness. In this study, we used a research-creation approach in which participants meditated while listening to a musical track composed for this purpose. The researcher adjusted it iteratively, favoring simplicity, continuity, microvariations, and balanced tessitura. The results showed that these elements supported mindfulness, while sudden events or a salient melody proved less favorable. The last version of the track optimally supported participants’ mindfulness. These results enrich our understanding of the relationship between music and mindfulness.
