The author shows the principles of the method that he applies in his studies on the history of philosophy. He distinguishes between the horizontal history of philosophy that interests primarily on the historical aspects of the philosophical systems and the vertical history of philosophy that interests at first to the philosophical doctrines. The vertical history of philosophy can be made according to two different methods : the method of source and the method of structures. The author shows the superiority of the method of structures to grasp the internal intelligibility of the philosophical work, method presented as a methodof reasons. The method of structures is adequate to the nature of the philosophical work, as work and as philosophical.

The aim of this paper is to show that, even though recent studies of Hegel's Philosophy of Religion do not consider important the analysis of his early writings for the reconstruction of his mature thought, the exegesis of the Jugendschriften remains indispensable : a) for understanding the genesis of a position which is central in Hegel's Religionsphilosophie, namely his thesis on the difference between intellect and reason ; b) for acknowledging that the logic of the absolute, used by Hegel's theology, was more the result of his attachement to an ideal of reason and of his critique of Kant, than the fruit of his meditation of Christianity ; c) for discovering the unity in the development of Hegel's thought.

The concept of planning used in socialist experiences is approached by the "plan" concept put forward by diverse philosophies of history. In order to do this, the notion of "divine plan" is analysed with the help of a structure of seven terms which, being equally applied to the socialist concept of planning, allows the foundation of this "rapprochement" . The transformations of the concept of plan in the philosophy of history are next examined in such a manner to manifest a parallel between the dilemmas of this philosophy and those of Soviet, Yugoslav or Chinese planning.

The author has endeavoured to define two main trends in the research on the foundations of mathematics, constructivism and structuralism (understood in the Bourbakist sense of "theory of abstract structures" ) . He gives many examples in axiomatic set theory, e.g. the continuum hypothesis, and in intuitionism, e.g. the notion of choice sequence, in order to show that the two approaches are complementary. The paper contains some original ideas, concerning the structure of the continuum and the constructive horizon, and is completed by an appendix. The paper is an attempt at the justification of a constructivist philosophy in the making.

The basic question delt with in this article is that of the relation between science and philosophy. This question is approached through a consideration of the phenomenological critique of science. The philosophy of Merleau-Ponty is taken as an example of the phenomenological position. The aim of the article is to show the insufficiency of Merleau-Ponty's position — and, by implication, of phenomenology in general — as regards his estimation of the true nature of the scientific project. To this end an attempt is made to seize hold of the true meaning of recent developments in science by examining four special instances : nuclear physics, psychology, molecular biology, cybernetics. The result of this analysis is to show that Merleau-Ponty's interpretation of aims and tendencies of science was mistaken and that the position normally taken by phenomenology cannot be defended. As, however, the author is in agreement with the basic motivation of Merleau-Ponty and of phenomenology as regard the irreducibility of the subject or consciousness to scientific objectivism, he is thus led to ask what might be a satisfactory phenomenological position vis-a-is science. The article thus ends a critique of all positivist (and structuralist) positions in philosophy and with an attempt to indicate what must be the true nature of philosophical discourse, once this has been purified of all empirical elements, i.e., of all claims to positive knowledge.
