Starting with Henry Poulaille's 1930s definition of the genuine proletarian writer, this article questions the durability and validity of such a concept today. The worker writer is called upon to narrate, to bear witness—and this social request, which is sometimes spelled out, is first put back in “the age of the witness” or “the age of storytelling”. But it turns out, on the one hand, that most worker stories published at the turn of the 21st century favour other configurations than the narrative arrangement ; they mix discourse and stories, choosing other forms instead of the story (such as the diary, the fragment, the portrait). On the other hand, the readability and dissemination of these stories require the support of smugglers : sociologists, journalists, teachers, the men and women of publishing who work in the shadows, without which these stories remain useless, a fact that invalidates the idea of a spontaneous or fully genuine production.

In an increasingly urbanized environment, the need for greenery and flowers is being more and more felt for aesthetic reasons and ecological benefits. In the cities of Togo, area of this study, more than six hundred species of horticultural plants are identified and composed of approximately 59 % of Dicotyledons (49 families, 145 genera and 315 species) and 37.37 % of Monocotyledons. Pteridophyta and Gymnosperms account for less than 6 %. The spectrum of morphological types indicates that herbs are account for 55 %, while trees and shrubs represent 15 %. More than 50 % of the species of this flora is exotic horticulture. Approximately 52 % of identified species are native of America against 20 % for Africa. The 274 preference species (RI <80 %) account for over 44 % of known species. A species distribution is made according to their decorative parts and their place of use. Across the country, 55 plantings are recorded and unevenly distributed in cities. Apart from their ornamental purpose, ornamental plants are used for feeding, traditional and industrial cosmetics in psychotherapy, horticultural therapy and in traditional and conventional medicine. In this study, 79 species from 39 families are reported as medicinal plants. The Apocynaceae and Fabaceae (6 species), the Euphorbiaceae and Liliaceae (5 species), the Arecaceae and Verbenaceae (4 species) are the best represented families.

Youths' mental health is a growing concern in New Brunswick as in the rest of Canada. Faced with this observation, the governments of Canada and New Brunswick wish for a greater involvement of schools in prevention and detection efforts. To do this, schools would notably play a role in the development of protective factors that foster resilience in youth. The Search Institute's developmental assets framework provides a target for interventions by suggesting a list of internal and external resources that youth should be able to draw on to face adversity. Dialectic behavioural therapy (DBT) constitutes one form of intervention that aims at developing individuals' capabilities to deal with adversity. This paper presents results from a randomized trial that examined the effect of a DBT-based intervention on the progression of developmental assets. The intervention consisted in six weekly sessions of 70 minutes during which social and emotional competency training was offered to groups of 25 to 30 pupils. There were 146 study participants, grade 9 and 10, from two francophone schools in New Brunswick. Pupils were randomly assigned to one of three groups (experimental, placebo and control) and completed the French version of the Developmental Assets Profile before the intervention as well as one month after. Results suggest a positive effect of the intervention on four types of assets (support, empowerment, boundaries and expectations, and commitment to learning), especially for pupils with the lowest developmental asset scores at baseline. Practical implications of these findings and limitations to the study are discussed.

Living conditions associated with the fly-in fly-out (FIFO) practice in the mining sector expose male workers to many challenges that affect different dimensions of their life. However, little is known about the realities faced by these professionals. This documentary research seeks to expose the current state of knowledge concerning FIFO's effects on men working in the mining field. The analysis of 72 documents made it possible to examine the effects of the FIFO system on men's mental health, physical health, and help-seeking. Following this analysis, several avenues of intervention relating to FIFO workers' psychosocial needs are also proposed.

Counseling and helping relationship involve multiple challenges and difficulties, especially when it comes to interventions with vulnerable, traumatized or marginalized populations. These challenges contribute to arousing intense emotions for the workers in the face of which they may find themselves powerless. Although the rules of feeling associated with the field of counseling tend to minimize or deny difficult work-related experiences, the scientific literature emphasizes the need for workers to recognize, regulate and verbalize the emotions they experience in intervention, particularly through emotional regulation and mentalization. The following article therefore proposes a theoretical and clinical elaboration of these essential concepts, both protective factors against burnout and facilitators of sensitive and adapted interventions.

This article focuses on the role of cultural mediation of symbolic and narrative resources in the resilience process which lies at the heart of the migration experience, including forced migrations. It explains the emergence of “ life tales ” (dits de vie) and their development process through four examples : the life tale of the child as a strawberry ; the life tale of Kiroumi, the child from nowhere ; the life tale of the man with the snake bite ; the life tale of the profession and beauty, of the forces of continuity and discontinuity. Finally, it explores the passage from the use of life tales based on participant's experience for the collective development of life tales within intercultural groups.
