This article explores the strategic role played by middle managers in pluralist health sector organizations. It aims to capture the complexity of their strategy work during periods of change. The analysis identifies three attributes of strategizing, seen as activities influenced by the imposed or participative nature of change: 1) the creation of a network of alliances; 2) the negotiation of values; and 3) daily micro-practices.

AbstractThe research project concerns language socialization among urban immigrant adolescents. A large number of interactions shows that among the factors that play a role in rising to peer social status and in acquiring certain language features, space seems to be important. As well, the subjects identified as leaders seem to have an affirmative and representational function in terrritorilized spaces that do not necessarily correspond to exogene categories, be they administrative, media or popular. I will attempt to determine to what extent and how territories and reference spaces are constructed, and with what characteristics they are associated with respect to language practices and identity building.

According to figures collected in October 2004 from higher education institutions of Quebec Internet sites, the women full-time regular professors of philosophy account for 17,8% of the teaching staff in this field. This statistical study shows that there is an underrepresentation of women regular professors of philosophy in Quebec universities. This text aims thus to clarify this problem and tries to understand it better by advancing five explanatory assumptions in order to find solutions to this deplorable situation and in a will to philosophize differently.

The assessment of soft skills assessment is a challenge for teaching teams in higher education, particularly during internships in technical training programs. To adapt to an ever-changing and increasingly demanding job market (Bellier, 2004; Faure, 2023), innovative practices are emerging in the field. However, these practices present various difficulties for teaching teams: defining the concept of soft skills (which is polysemic), understanding the job market’s expectations regarding these skills, and using professional judgement to assess professional competencies by taking soft skills into account. An action-research-training project (Guay et al., 2016) was conducted with a team of six teachers from a college-level program related to the health care sector. Preceded by a training needs analysis (Roussel, 2011), the establishment of a learning community as a support system (Savoie-Zajc, 2010) aimed to put into practice a skills assessment process that considers soft skills and is based on professional judgement (Beauchamp, 2020). This article aims to present a model for documenting soft skills development during internships to support professional judgement regarding the achievement of the expected level of skills development.
