This study sought to discuss the perspective of services for libraries and to indicate the competences of professionals to act in face of this scenario. Regarding the nature of the research, it is characterized as basic research, using an exploratory approach and bibliographic and documental characteristics. The searches were carried out in the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus (Elsevier), SciELO. The 2,030 documents were retrieved; these were explored by reading the titles, the keywords, and the abstract. In this way, we evaluated which of the articles answered the research question. Among the documents checked, 55 documents were selected. The results identified services in the technological sphere: Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things, Drones, Virtual Assistants, and Blockchain. In the society, sphere Co-working. In the Education category, Badging, and in the Environment category, Resilience. Given what was proposed, the librarian’s perception of these changes becomes essential as actors and providers of these services.

EN :

Citizen Science (CS) is an approach to scientific work and part of the Open Science movement. This study aims to analyse the perception of the librarians about their participation in the aBEIRAr project, which is a CS partnership for the valorisation of the territory developed in the Intermunicipal Network of Libraries of Beiras and Serra da Estrela (RIBBSE) in Portugal. The methodology comprised a literature review, and the case study includes an interview and a survey. Of the results obtained, the following stand out: the libraries are the driving forces behind the aBEIRAr project; they choose the themes, organise and dynamize the activities in their local communities, and establish various partnerships with the mediation of the project's scientific coordination; the level of satisfaction of the librarians in this project is very satisfactory; in the libraries, after carrying out the aBEIRAr project, the number of participants in other face-to-face activities and the interaction on their social network profiles increased; librarians consider that CS can bring to public libraries and their users participative scientific knowledge. The data provides valuable insights into the possibilities and challenges associated with executing CS projects in collaboration with public libraries. These findings contribute to the ongoing discussion about the role of libraries as essential community centers.

La science citoyenne (SC) est une approche du travail scientifique qui s'inscrit dans le mouvement de la science ouverte. Cette étude vise à analyser la perception des bibliothécaires quant à leur participation au projet aBEIRAr, qui est un partenariat de SC pour la valorisation du territoire développé dans le Réseau Intermunicipal des Bibliothèques de Beiras et Serra da Estrela (RIBBSE) au Portugal. La méthodologie comprend une analyse documentaire et l'étude de cas comprend un entretien et une enquête. Parmi les résultats obtenus, les suivants se distinguent : les bibliothèques sont les forces motrices du projet aBEIRAr ; elles choisissent les thèmes, organisent et dynamisent les activités dans leurs communautés locales, et établissent divers partenariats avec la médiation de la coordination scientifique du projet ; le niveau de satisfaction des bibliothécaires dans ce projet est très satisfaisant ; dans les bibliothèques, après avoir réalisé le projet aBEIRAr, le nombre de participants à d'autres activités en face-à-face et l'interaction sur leurs profils de réseaux sociaux ont augmenté ; les bibliothécaires considèrent que la SC peut apporter aux bibliothèques publiques et à leurs utilisateurs des connaissances scientifiques participatives. Les données fournissent des indications précieuses sur les possibilités et les défis associés à l'exécution de projets de SC en collaboration avec les bibliothèques publiques. Ces résultats contribuent à la discussion en cours sur le rôle des bibliothèques en tant que centres communautaires essentiels.

The digital revolution has transformed reading promotion in a world where technology competes with traditional entertainment, posing challenges for libraries, especially in engaging audiences. Adapting actively is crucial to making reading appealing. The rise of book influencers and reading promoters on social media is pivotal for reading education, offering libraries opportunities to diversify programs. Using the "walkthrough" method on four platforms, our research identified 60 Hungarian book influencers and reading promoters. Structured interviews with 23 influencers aimed to unveil their activities, motivations, and the aspirations and reading experiences behind their content. The study contributes to literary and cultural mediation, exploring the intersection between libraries and literacy promoters. It addresses how literacy promoters can enhance reading promotion in the community, emphasizing their role in generating interest in books and literature. Findings suggest that social media and influencers complement libraries' literacy strategies, benefiting both libraries and readers. Collaborating with influencers can foster a reading culture aligned with the digital era's demands. Encouraging influencers to collaborate could also educate their followers, transforming them into library users.

This study examines the relationship between ontologies and open research data within the framework of the Semantic Web. The objective is to investigate the interconnectivity of both subjects through scholarly works that offer enhancements to the Web ecosystem and scientific research processes. The paper reviews critical theoretical frameworks related to the Semantic Web and the significance of metadata within this model. It also delves into the function that ontologies can fulfill in the Semantic Web landscape. The paper provides a historical overview of the emergence of ontologies and definitions in both Computer Science and Information Science. It chronicles how theorists in Information Science have progressively embraced the concept of ontologies since the late 20th century and assesses the current scholarly consensus on the subject. The study also addresses the importance of open research data in modern science by doing a systematic literature review; this study sources relevant publications from the Web of Science and Scopus databases, with a temporal focus from 2000 to 2023. The findings offer a comprehensive analysis of existing literature that bridges the two domains above, aiding in the theoretical and methodological systematization of the subject matter. The discussion section elaborates on the findings, offering insights into the evolutionary trajectory of the subject matter. Emphasis is placed on the utility of ontologies as tools for the sustainable and effective utilization of research data, accentuating the value of such data as a basis for future scholarly work. In conclusion, we advocate for information science to take a leading role in initiatives that leverage ontological frameworks to manage specialized knowledge in research data sets effectively, ensuring that such data remains an asset for advancing scientific understanding.

Traditionally, librarians were more concerned with issues such as the acquisition and organization of library collections, as well as searching and retrieving information for researchers. However, since the introduction of the Internet in the 1990s and advance in ICT, academic library became more concerned with scholarly communication, than searching and retrieval services. This study explores the current practices of research support related to open access, bibliometric and research data management services offered in Hungarian academic libraries. The study applied both qualitative and quantitative research method. Primarily, we analysed websites of ten selected Hungarian academic libraries and detail content analysis of the websites was conducted from 1 July to 30 October 2023. Our investigation shows that, Hungarian university libraries are currently offering broad range of research support services to academic community beyond the traditional research support. Mainly, Hungarian academic libraries have strong culture of open access support to facilitate knowledge transfer. However, from library home page of respective universities, we observe that the practice of bibliometric and research data management services is at its infancy. From website analysis, currently very few of Hungarian university libraries were offering bibliometric and research data management services to academic community.

Utilizing a mixed-method approach, this research aims to evaluate algorithmic literacy among students at the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Political Sciences and the Faculty of Philosophy (BIH), and to assess the possibilities for improving existing practices of media and information literacy (MIL) integration. The central research question investigates how current MIL educational strategies influence students' awareness and understanding of the roles algorithms play in the digital transformation of a society striving for sustainable development. Therefore, the study encompasses a descriptive method of holistic approach elements: strategic documents, MIL book edition and MOOC modules. Subsequently, a thematic analysis of ten qualitative interviews with students further explores their experiences, attitudes, and perceptions regarding information, media, and algorithms. The research results offer insights into the potential of MIL education to support algorithmic literacy and its potential contribution to sustainable development, particularly focusing on SDG 4 - Quality Education. By aligning its findings with the objectives of a universally applicable goal, this study not only addresses the context of algorithmic literacy as an integral component of quality education but also serves as a step towards advancing the interconnectedness of open education and artificial intelligence.

The world changed. More than ever information gains a strategic role in professional contexts. Organizations are told that they will not survive in the modern era without a strategy for managing and leveraging value from information (extended to knowledge). This means that organizations must change the way information is managed, from a “housekeeping” style to a transversal mode, similar to how Human Resources, Finance, or Information Technology departments. This paper recommends some actions to make information/knowledge management an asset to be measured and with an impact on career development. It is a qualitative analysis resulting from an exploratory literature review and its comparison with working experience and observation in the last 15 years as an information manager. Via this combination, it was possible to approach a different type of intellectual capital investment, resulting in the proposal of creating an information/knowledge ladder strategy followed by a new performance evaluation indicator resulting from the information/knowledge management investments. The key conclusion shows that although information/knowledge management is a key asset for success, it’s necessary to reinforce research and implementation studies in strategies that measure the returns on information/knowledge investments. It’s also fundamental to the role of the academic side, extra engaging with organizations but also investing more in studies and creating new measurement techniques and indicators to be explored by future information professionals, particularly information managers.

After 33 years of existence in Romania, higher education in the field of library and information science is today organized by four universities: the University of Bucharest, Babes Bolyai University of Cluj Napoca, Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu and West University of Timisoara. In 2005, the Bologna Process was also implemented in this field, with specialized education being organized in three specific cycles: undergraduate and master’s studies, postgraduate studies and doctoral studies. Starting with this moment, we are assisting the attempt to standardize the curriculum, implicitly the skills and competencies that graduates must have after graduation. This is supervised by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education; the competencies and skills are listed in the register drawn up by the National Agency for Qualifications and correlated with the ESCO register (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations). By analysing the latest RAQAHE recommendations (updated in 2022), the ESCO and NAQ registers, we aim to highlight the topicality of the study programmes offered by the four universities. The discussions can be held, in essence, on how well prepared the graduates are for the labour market and what the next steps for a more frequent adaptation of the content of the subjects in the curriculum to take into account the views formulated by The European Network Of Public Employment Services in June 2023, as a contribution to the European Year of Skills. The study also presents the main disciplines included in the curriculum for undergraduate studies recommended by ARACIS and the types of Master’s, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The main competencies and skills related to the occupations (concerning the information science field) included in the Classification of Occupations in Romania are presented.

The purpose of this research is to present the matrix developed by H. Igor Ansoff and reflect on its usefulness for studying the Information Services (IS) market in the context of the information and knowledge society of the 21st century, whose environment is infopolluted and constant changing, making it difficult to access up-to-date, useful, and quality information that would meet the needs of both individuals and organizations. The research was carried out by identifying and consulting scientific literature through EBSCO. The search terms used were Ansoff Matrix, Marketing, Information Science, and Information Services. The chronological period from 1957 to 2023 and the languages Portuguese and English were selected. The results show that information is a valued asset in the 21st century because, together with the Ansoff Matrix, it allows us to understand market needs and create information products and services that help meet consumers' information needs, but also to value and recognize the work done by information services. The Ansoff matrix helps us to understand the best strategy to apply to an information service so that it develops and evolves, contributing to the knowledge and development of the individual and/or organizational consumer, playing an essential role in the innovation and renewal of information products and services. We conclude that in the context of the Information and Knowledge Society, the value of information for human development will contribute to a more informed and, therefore, happier society.

In science and education, research data is a valuable resource that can be utilized and repurposed for future use. Research data management is crucial for successful research, as it can generate reliable and advantageous results and facilitate accurate decision-making. The systematic review study followed the PRISMA Statement standards for reporting. Data regarding research data management from a Hungarian perspective was collected from SCOPUS, Web of Science, and EBSCO databases on January 5th, 2024. Forty-one records were identified from SCOPUS, Web of Science, and EBSCO databases. After screening, the remaining 13 articles were included in this study. The Hungarian authors discussed four distinct research data management activities. The activities included data sharing, data citation, data curation, and data storage. Several additional data-related concepts, such as data governance, data quality, data literacy, and research data service, were also examined in this study.

The Iberarchivos program, which is a financial fund for the implementation of archival projects, is a benchmark of archival cooperation in Ibero-America for archival development. Based on the perspectives of culture as a pillar of sustainable development advocated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Quadruple Bottom Line (QBL), the aim of this study is to present the contributions of the Iberarchivos program to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Methodologically, it is an applied, exploratory, and descriptive study in terms of objectives, as well as bibliographic and documentary research in primary sources as technical procedures. After a critical reading of each strategic plan for the Ibero-American partnership (PACCI) for the period of 2019 to 2026, all the initiatives related to the Iberarchivos program for the achievement of sustainable development will be identified and described to map the existence of sustainable practices and actions intended for the Ibero-American archives in their activities. This work has identified efforts and movements that highlight the relevance of guaranteeing the right of access to information, culture, and memory for citizenship and the objectives of the SDGs of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, as well as mobilization with other social sectors for the development and monitoring of cultural public policies. The conclusion of this research is that the contributions of the Iberarchivos program are essential for achieving the SDGs, consolidating the QBL, and, above all, the richness and diversity of Ibero-American culture in building sustainable knowledge for society in general and the archival community, as well as democratizing access to culture.

This study addresses two information pathologies: information technology anxiety (ITA) and information overload (IO). This research aims to determine the level of both ITA and IO amongst the undergraduate students of Information Science of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and to ascertain how both phenomena correlate with students’ gender, age, number of enrolments in the degree and average frequency of use of the university’s libraries throughout the academic year. Concerning the research methodology, we opted for exploratory and descriptive research with a quantitative approach and adopted the case study and questionnaire survey methods. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used as methods of data analysis. The findings, concerning 39\% of the population under study (N = 88; n = 34), reveal a considerably low prevalence of ITA but a substantial occurrence of IO. Both ITA and IO correlate positively with the female gender. Students aged 19 and 24 years are the least likely to manifest both ITA and IO; in turn, students aged 22 years are the most likely to simultaneously show ITA and IO. Both phenomena tend to increase as students progress through the degree. Last, a higher frequency of use of the university’s libraries is associated with a higher level of ITA and IO. Our findings emphasize the high incidence of IO in university students and the need for increased skills in all dimensions of the human-information-technology relationship/system, particularly in the information filtering and management areas.

Star architecture is becoming a popular strategy for urban solutions, and exclusive projects are being constructed to create an image and increase media attention. The term describes buildings designed by famous architects who often capitalize on their popularity for marketing purposes in tourist destinations. The visibility of these sites effectively attracts tourists and capital to specific places. It is common for landmark buildings and their leading architects to be paired with the Pritzker Architecture Prize. This paper reviews all 72 libraries designed by prize winners from the first edition in 1979 to 2023, analyzing their potential for library tourism. The research methodology includes a documentary and content analysis (internal and online desk research) of websites, newsletters, and publications. It can be concluded that these libraries have a vast collection of resources that can entice tourists, and now they are destinations for millions of visitors. On the other hand, the authority of these architects guarantees the more significant popularity of libraries as tourist destinations. However, given the financial resources needed to implement these projects, their tourism potential can mainly benefit large cities in developed countries or traditional academic centers.

In Brazil, there are more than 10 million Deaf people. Of these, 2,592 Deaf people are enrolled in Higher Education institutions. This pilot study aims to explore how the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) has studied Deaf people in university libraries. This research uses a mixed methods approach: the first part of the study uses a descriptive approach to present the current state of LIS literature on Deaf users of university libraries. The second part of the research is empirical and consists of a survey that has yet to be fully carried out. It also suggests how the university library can contribute to the empowerment of the deaf community.

Web 2.0 has presented challenges and possibilities for cultural facilities and information professionals. Thinking strategically about such aspects implies creating openings for the collaboration of communities of interest in the identification of informational objects, and converging concepts, methodologies and techniques of information design, digital curation and folksonomy, which would address the challenges that emerge in the process of digitization-virtualization and availability of collections on the Web. Given this, cultural facilities must get closer to the communities of interest, as is done by the Museum of the Person (Museu da Pessoa), a digital-virtual and collaborative museum whose collection is composed of life stories. The museum uses the social technology of memory, a methodology that consists of a set of practices, concepts and principles essential for diverse communities of interest and institutions to take ownership of the production and recording of narratives. The present study asks how folksonomy, seen as a resource of information design and digital curation, can converge to the social technology of memory? Thus, the objective is to analyze the possibilities of convergence of folksonomy, information design, and digital curation to the social technology of memory. The specific objectives are to study the main concepts of folksonomy in the context of information design and digital curation, analyze the social technology of memory, and identify possible convergences of folksonomy in methodology. The methodology applied in the present study is theoretical, exploratory, and qualitative, and the method applied was design thinking.

Le Web 2.0 a présenté des défis et des possibilités pour les équipements culturels et les professionnels de l'information. Penser stratégiquement ces aspects implique de créer des ouvertures pour la collaboration des communautés d'intérêt dans l'identification des objets informationnels, et de faire converger les concepts, méthodologies et techniques de conception de l'information, de conservation numérique et de folksonomie, ce qui permettrait de relever les défis qui émergent dans le processus de numérisation. -virtualisation et mise à disposition des collections sur le Web. Dans cette perspective, les équipements culturels doivent se rapprocher des communautés d'intérêt, comme le fait le Musée de la personne (Museu da Pessoa), un musée numérique-virtuel et collaboratif dont la collection est composée d'histoires de vie. Le Musée utilise la technologie sociale de la mémoire, une méthodologie qui consiste en un ensemble de pratiques, de concepts et de principes essentiels pour que diverses communautés d'intérêt et institutions s'approprient la production et l'enregistrement de récits. La présente étude pose la question suivante : comment la folksonomie, considérée comme une ressource de conception de l'information et de conservation numérique, peut-elle converger vers la technologie sociale de la mémoire ? Ainsi, l'objectif est d'analyser les possibilités de convergence de la folksonomie, de la conception de l'information et de la conservation numérique vers la technologie sociale de la mémoire. Les objectifs spécifiques sont : étudier les principaux concepts de la Folksonomie dans le contexte de la conception de l'information et de la conservation numérique ; analyser la technologie sociale de la mémoire ; identifier les convergences possibles de la Folksonomie dans la méthodologie. La méthodologie appliquée dans la présente étude est théorique et exploratoire et qualitative, la méthode appliquée était le Design Thinking.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has gained exceptional public and media coverage since the launch of the ChatGPT platform, a generative conversational intelligence, in November 2022. Nevertheless, AI is already an integral part of our digital daily lives, as we navigate through social networks, use our GPS, or consult recommendations on e-commerce websites. Due to its pervasive influence across all sectors of our societies, AI is gradually becoming a pivotal subject in terms of regulation, societal direction, and legislation. As early as 2021, UNESCO published a report presenting avenues for ethical considerations in AI. In June 2023, the European Union also established a regulatory framework outlining requirements and obligations for AI usage. As a digital manifestation and given the "new ways in which its use influences human thinking, interaction and decision-making and affects education, human, social and natural sciences, culture, and communication and information" (UNESCO. General Conference, 41st, 2021), public libraries have a role to play in enabling residents within their communities to grasp this technology. Their role is all the more significant as AI generates concerns and distrust (Gillath et al., 2021) among populations when "libraries also continue to enjoy a high level of trust and appreciation in most of their communities" (Arlitsch \& Newell, 2017). Understanding AI thus constitutes a new cornerstone for accessing the necessary information to advance sustainable development, as outlined in the Lyon Declaration (2014). Moreover, comprehension of AI aligns with the ethical concerns articulated by UNESCO in terms of explainability and transparency and aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. These goals include quality education (4), industry, innovation and infrastructure (9), reduced inequalities (10), sustainable cities and communities (11), as well as responsible consumption and production (12). The role of public libraries in advancing the goals of the 2030 Agenda is beyond dispute (IFLA, 2016), and various digital literacies are already integral to their actions. As AI is predominantly developed by global economic giants and permeates all of our practices, "Shouldn’t [libraries] be the bastions of information literacy and information privacy in an AI world?" (Cox et al., 2018). Thus, to what extent can public libraries take on this subject to promote and offer relevant literacy? For this study, we will conduct a cross-analysis among three European countries—Spain, France, and Italy—to provide insights into the diverse ways in which AI influences professional practices. Through a literature review and semi-structured interviews, the objective is to delineate the challenges of Artificial Intelligence within the framework of the Agenda 2030 program. Subsequently, we will delve into the specificity of AI Literacy in comparison to Information Literacy, a practice already adopted by libraries. Finally, we will analyze the current and prospective role of AI in libraries to propose avenues for implementing concrete actions.

Women have been increasingly fighting for their rights and equality in Society. Historically, in the 18th century, women’s musical education was considered a distraction and participation in family events, but professional engagement was not deemed acceptable. Given this context, questions arose about the existence of female classical music composers and whether their works are present on current music streaming platforms. Based on this, the study aimed to investigate how these composers are thematically represented on these platforms. Methodologically, the study is qualitative and exploratory, employing case study methods. The search terms used were “woman” and “classical music” along with the composers' names. The criterion for selecting composers was that they belonged to the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, as many male composers achieved enduring success during this period. The selected composers were Maria Anna Mozart, Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Chiquinha Gonzaga, and Alma Mahler-Werfel. The chosen platforms were Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, and Apple Music. The research demonstrated a scarcity of historical records about the analyzed composers’ lives. They were often compelled to abandon music due to family obligations, which contributed to the limited availability of their music on the platform.

Les femmes se battent de plus en plus pour leurs droits et leur égalité dans la société. Historiquement, au XVIIIe siècle, l'éducation musicale des femmes était considérée comme une forme de distraction et de participation aux événements familiaux, mais l'engagement professionnel n'était pas jugé acceptable. Dans ce contexte, des questions se sont posées sur l'existence de compositrices de musique classique et sur la présence de leurs œuvres sur les plateformes actuelles de diffusion de musique en continu. Sur cette base, l'étude visait à examiner la manière dont ces compositrices sont représentées thématiquement sur ces plateformes. D'un point de vue méthodologique, l'étude est qualitative et exploratoire, et utilise des méthodes d'étude de cas. Les termes de recherche utilisés étaient "femme", "musique classique" ainsi que les noms des compositeurs eux-mêmes. Le critère de sélection des compositeurs était leur appartenance aux 18e, 19e et 20e siècles, étant donné que de nombreux compositeurs masculins ont connu un succès durable au cours de cette période. Les compositrices sélectionnées sont Maria Anna Mozart, Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Chiquinha Gonzaga et Alma Mahler-Werfel. Les plateformes choisies étaient Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer et Apple Music. La recherche a montré qu'il y avait peu de documents historiques sur la vie des compositeurs analysés. Ils ont souvent été contraints d'abandonner la musique en raison d'obligations familiales, ce qui a contribué à la disponibilité limitée de leur musique sur la plateforme.

From the perspective of the constant increase in data and information, consider in Library and Information Science that the correct analysis and representation of the contents of documents analyzed in specific domains is essential for the retrieval, organization, and dissemination of information. Subject Analysis categorizes topics and details, making it easier to retrieve relevant information. Domain Analysis studies specific characteristics of a field of knowledge, comprising terminologies and concepts. Content Analysis identifies and analyzes textual elements, deepening the understanding of documentary content. This study explores these analyses' approaches, techniques, and methodologies, highlighting their often confused interrelationships, differences, and similarities. To achieve the proposed objective to support the conceptual and theoretical-methodological discussion on subject analysis, content analysis, and domain analysis, focusing on their interrelations, differences, and similarities that are often confused in their concepts and methodologies, the research developed an exploratory and descriptive approach, a bibliographic survey was carried out in the BRAPCI database, using the terms "domain analysis", "content analysis" and "content analysis", recovering 134 documents. Results are efficiently defined and applied to each analysis. These analyses guarantee efficient information retrieval, which is vital to growing data volume.

This research aimed to prepare guidelines for authors by investigating forms and functions of keywords assigned by authors in theses and dissertations defended in 2023 in the Graduate Program in Information Science at Unesp. The exploratory and descriptive study utilized a sample collected in the Unesp Institutional Repository. A corpus of 31 theses and 14 dissertations submitted to the Unesp Institutional Repository comprised a total of 183 keywords in Portuguese without duplicates and an average of 4.7 keywords, considering 213 keywords with duplicates. The analysis results initially identified that the Repository has a tutorial on using the Unesp Thesaurus to control vocabulary and that the authors use natural language to assign keywords. The findings reveal that, out of the 183 keywords, 89 (48%) are exclusive, singular and specific to the area of Information Science, candidates for descriptors in the Unesp Thesaurus. The other 94 keywords (51.3%) have 40 (21.3%) exact descriptors, and the other 54 (29.5%) present forms and functions that serve as examples for inclusion in the tutorial instructions. Based on the results obtained, it is concluded that the percentage of 21% overlap between keywords and descriptors reveals that the Unesp Thesaurus was consulted by the authors when filling out keyword metadata and that the low number of exact descriptors and exclusive keywords indicate that they need to be included as new terms. It is recommended, therefore, to define an Indexing Policy that considers the need for hybrid coexistence between natural language and vocabulary control.

Cette recherche visait à préparer des lignes directrices pour les auteurs en étudiant les formes et les fonctions des mots-clés attribués par les auteurs dans les thèses et mémoires soutenus en 2023 dans le programme d'études supérieures en sciences de l'information de l'Unesp. L'étude, à la fois exploratoire et descriptive, a utilisé un échantillon collecté dans le référentiel institutionnel de l'Unesp. Un corpus de 31 thèses et 14 mémoires soumis au Dépôt institutionnel de l'Unesp a été composé avec un total de 183 mots-clés en portugais sans doublons, et une moyenne de 4,7 mots-clés en considérant un total de 213 mots-clés avec doublons. Les résultats de l'analyse ont initialement identifié que le référentiel dispose d'un didacticiel avec des instructions sur la façon d'utiliser le thésaurus de l'Unesp pour contrôler le vocabulaire et que les auteurs utilisent le langage naturel pour attribuer des mots-clés. Les résultats révèlent que, sur les 183 mots-clés, 89 (48%) sont exclusifs, singuliers et spécifiques au domaine des sciences de l'information, candidats aux descripteurs du Thésaurus de l'Unesp. Les 94 autres mots-clés (51,3 %) ont 40 (21,3 %) descripteurs exacts, et les 54 autres (29,5 %) présentent des formes et des fonctions qui servent d'exemples à inclure dans les instructions du didacticiel. Sur la base des résultats obtenus, on conclut que le pourcentage de chevauchement de 21% entre mots-clés et descripteurs révèle que le Thésaurus de l'Unesp a été consulté par les auteurs lors du remplissage des métadonnées des mots-clés et que le faible nombre de descripteurs exacts et de mots-clés exclusifs indiquent qu'ils ont besoin à inclure comme nouveaux termes. Il est donc recommandé de définir une politique d'indexation qui prenne en compte la nécessité d'une coexistence hybride entre le langage naturel et le contrôle du vocabulaire.

"Does anyone still listen to CDs?" The presentation aims to introduce the operation of our Music Collection by providing qualitative and quantitative data linked to loans, library visits, online repositories with music content, music programs and workshops. Fundamentally, our Music Collection has a value-preserving function linked to processing, preserving, and presenting the documents of local music life in a spectacular form. Virtual exhibitions based on digitized documents, various databases, and knowledge repositories are good tools for organizing knowledge. People can also be introduced to these contents during library programs (e.g., lectures, sessions, and competitions). Due to the three pillars – knowledge organization, preservation of value, and community building – our Music Collection is a place where people return to listen to music on-site in a comfortable armchair while reading their favourite magazine. Due to the ever-changing world, we must apply innovative approaches, react proactively, and adapt to changes (an example of this could be our Creative Studio). The main purpose of this study is to describe the music-related activities of a particular library (Katona József Library, Kecskemét, Hungary); it is descriptive work and does not aim to compare the data and results with those of other libraries.

This study reports how institutions in a contemporary context experiencing significant digital transformations face several challenges to keep their memory alive for the next generations. In this context, digital preservation becomes essential for institutions to preserve their history. Also noteworthy are the Sustainable Development Goals established in the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which focus on sustainable development directly related to digital preservation. This article aims to analyze how humanity should consider Objectives 9, 11, 12 and 13 of the 2030 Agenda, whose objectives are interrelated with the theme of this research work. The methodology used was a bibliographic survey on the Web of Science, Google Scholar and Brapci databases, with a qualitative approach and categorical analysis. It is concluded that the interrelationship of digital preservation through the tool of digital certification in documents in institutions can be used as a mechanism for digital transformation within the scope of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.

This article addresses the terms and concepts in knowledge organization systems related to individuals and social groups with sexual and gender identities that do not conform to cis-heteronormativity. Preliminary insights suggest that these concepts are not represented adequately in knowledge organization systems. Although advancements in gender and sexuality studies have occurred, these systems have not developed accordingly and as a result, hinder the recognition of the diverse range of sexual and gender identities thereby risking the perpetuation of prejudiced and discriminatory discourses about the respective individuals and groups. This exploratory qualitative study investigates terms and concepts reflecting terminological, social, and rights advancements relating to sexual and gender-diverse individuals. A bibliographic search was conducted in books, scientific articles, guides, and manuals addressing these advancements to support the construction of a conceptual map representation of the concepts. The study systematically structured representations hierarchically, beginning with overarching concepts and gradually delving into more specific ones. This approach was guided by a comprehensive understanding of the domain under analysis, ensuring clarity and accessibility for the reader. The organization of knowledge needs to incorporate gender and sexuality in the construction of knowledge organization systems so that diversity is adequately represented in these systems.

In today’s world, the most popular and powerful tool to disseminate information on complex topics including climate change is social media. Information shared through various forms of texts and visual content on social media makes complicated topics easier to comprehend. The emotions, thoughts, and feelings expressed through images carry values that are far greater than those of texts. These features of images turn them into more meaningful content. People can be motivated to take action to establish and manage sustainable development. This research attempts to analyze the images posted on social media to build awareness among its users on climate change in Bangladesh. The accounts of Bangladeshi social media users are analyzed to find the various forms of images posted on social media and how people are engaging with these images. Also, social media users’ perspectives and awareness of climate change are studied here. Content analysis of 63 images on social media and semi-structured interviews with 10 social media users suggest that Bangladeshi social media users are focusing mostly on the impact of climate change, and less on its causes and solutions. Images containing the general public are more popular than images with political leaders, celebrities, and scientists which contradicts other findings. However social media users expressed less concern about the issue and believed that it is a matter of concern for the authority. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Bangladesh is taking a more active part in initiating actions to reduce the impact of climate change. As this younger generation ages, the future may bring positive changes if policies are made to support their initiatives.

The general aim of this study is to make a diagnosis on the accessibility of information made available on the websites of the Federal Higher Education Institutions (IFES) in the Northeast. It is based on the hypothesis that the websites of the IFES in the Northeast Region of Brazil do not have high levels of adequacy, results that do not allow any user, regardless of being a person with disabilities or other limitations, to access the knowledge made available there, either with the help of assistive technologies or autonomously. The methodological procedures will be bibliographical and documentary research with analysis of primary sources on institutional websites and administrative acts made available, or not, on these sources. All the open data portals will be evaluated and simulated to determine their suitability for eMAG. This will be done using the public software ASES, a system for comparing and validating the standards of construction and behaviour of the source code of electronic sites, pointing out the levels of usability, navigability, alternative text, and content markers regarding the eMAG parameters, which are mandatory for public institutional sites in Brazil in terms of digital accessibility. As a result of the research, it was possible to identify that the levels of accessibility on the websites of these institutions were not in line with the parameters of the Digital Government Accessibility Model (eMag) of Brazil. This reveals divergences in the promotion of access to information; while some IFES make information available autonomously, without facing noise, interference, or impediments to the use of information, others do not so much, which has a negative impact on the guarantee of rights such as the exercise of full citizenship.

The study starts from the global goals of inequality reduction and legal frameworks towards people with disabilities to evaluate curricular components and institutional guidance of active undergraduate courses in Library Science in the southeast area of Brazil. This study, which is of an applied nature, aims to investigate if and how universities offer education oriented to qualification in and towards diversity. The empirical field consists of 22 (twenty-two) courses certified by the Ministry of Education of the Federal Government of Brazil. Once these courses were submitted to documental analysis, we located 13 (thirteen) political-pedagogic projects and 9 (nine) summarized course syllabi to execute the exploratory reading based on keywords related to the inclusion domain and later definition of analytical categories. The reading, analysis, and critical interpretation regarding the results show significant gaps in the librarian education about diversity. Disregarding the predominance of optional courses on Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), the undergraduate courses of the investigated area as an empirical field of this study fail to present, satisfactorily, components or specific objectives aimed toward the learning process of people with disabilities.

This article is part of a PhD research and investigates the impact of rapid technological evolution, focusing on the adoption of smart mobile devices (SMD), such as smartphones, tablets and laptops, and applications (app) in the personal lives of higher education professors in the area of Information Science. In addition, gaps are identified in existing research, emphasizing the need to understand how SMD is used in personal activities for personal knowledge management (PKM) practices and infocommunication. Specific objectives include identifying the most commonly used SMDs and apps, the frequency of such use, and how they are used for those practices. The methodology is qualitative, triangulating the integrative review with a questionnaire (N-10). The results point to interest in device ecologies for PKM and Info-communication, with communication apps (text and voice) and e-mail being the most important for teachers. It is hoped that the results of this study can contribute to the advancement of knowledge about the use of SMD by teachers and to the development of a generic descriptive model of infocommunicational behaviour and PKM that can be applied in other contexts.
