After reflecting on the particular modes of reception and memorization of song lyrics, this article poses the question : can lyrics be analysed in terms other than those dictated by logic, syntax and language ? One approach that suggests itself has to do with the interference between verbal phrase and musical phrase : the manifold distortions that rhythm and melody introduce into the scansion and intonation of the utterance. The author then proceeds to examine Georges Brassens's systematic exploitation of these distortions in one of his songs, « le Vin ». The article concludes with the description of certain parallels between this practice and certain characteristics of the poetical message and unconscious discourse.
