While cultural references are extremely frequent in the work of Réjean Ducharme, they are not based on any hierarchy that would make it possible to separate canonical works and popular productions. Of all Ducharme's works, L'hiver de force is probably the one in which this jumbled effect is the most marked. From this perspective, the author examines the place occupied by music and song in Ducharme's novel, with particular attention to the role played by songs of the Beatles.
