Through an ethnographic study conducted in three newsrooms of French-speaking dailies in Belgium between March and June 2022, this article examines the challenges posed by the observation of virtual interactions within newsrooms. Access to virtual communication channels, managing the constant flow of online information, and juggling between the 'physical' and virtual field were some of the key issues explored. The study concludes that ethnography remains relevant in a context where editorial work is becoming increasingly hybrid but nevertheless requires methodological adaptations to account for the digital realm. Virtual tools complement rather than replace physical interactions, underscoring the importance of on-site observation for a comprehensive understanding of research objectives. Ultimately, ethnography remains a valuable tool for studying work practices in editorial offices, even in the digital age.

This paper analyses the interaction between the community of persons with disabilities and the US Congress from 1970 to 2008. How did this interaction evolve during this period? Which kind of strategies did the disability community engage in? Which factors influenced members of Congress to respond to this social movement? A first of indication of this evolution is the “professionalization” of advocacy and lobbying strategies used by the community of persons with disabilities: national organisations established their headquarters in Washington, so that they had used both direct and indirect lobbying strategies (meeting, letters, call to action, legislative seminar, etc.) to push Congress to pass legislation on disability rights. Congress had to answer to it. Some senators and representatives used their experiences living with disabilities to become legislative entrepreneurs in this field. They became a catalyst for change within Congress. Congress had to act – invitations to participate to public hearing of congressional committee on disability rights bills were an early measure of change. But, contrary to general knowledge, on participation of citizen groups at congressional committees, participation of individuals has been higher than that of formal organisations.

The paper addresses the issue of grammatical gender in the contemporary debate about Italian Language, highlighting a connection between the issue of sexism – rapresented by the use of masculine gender – and the recent proposal to create a new gender, using the morphemes -ə (singular) and -3 (plural), referred to non-binary people. The change would have a great impact on morphology of Italian Language and for this reason it has raised a very heated debate which is still ongoing and reported here. In the last part of the paper is reported the result of a survey on the knowlegde of -ə e -3 in users.

In the face of current societal challenges, an in-depth transformation of marketing seems necessary. Born-sustainable SMEs can be experimental laboratories and important actors in bringing about changes in the market in favour of sustainability. Through a qualitative study utilizing various materials, we aim to understand the marketing practices that enable them to shape the market for sustainable offerings and thus legitimize their presence in that market. The results show that born-sustainable SMEs adopt a collaborative approach that goes beyond the classic supply-demand relationship by mobilizing a network of actors, seeking to build collective legitimacy.

Jura, the most recently formed canton, has a history which is unique in the context of Switzerland and this is reflected in everything related to the language. In addition to the policies in support of Francophonie, on the one hand, and the Jura dialect, on the other, there are regionalisms at every level of the linguistic system. Thus, by delving further into the perception that Jurassian speakers have of this variety, we conduct a survey through an online questionnaire. We interpret the quantitative data obtained according to the basic concepts of the study of language representations – “linguistic security” and “linguistic insecurity” – as well as the “centre-periphery” model. The contribution aims to highlight how the participants feel about the concept of “standard French” and the regional marks of their way of speaking : do they depreciate them or, on the contrary, are they proud of them as symbols of identity ?

This study aims to find evidence that validates an unprecedented scale assessing metacognitive knowledge about digital reading, developed for PISA 2018. More precisely, the study investigates whether the scale measures metacognitive knowledge about reading as opposed to ICT literacy. Data from the 37 OECD countries were used. The results show strong correlation between this metacognitive knowledge scale, reading performance, and two scales which have already been validated for measuring metacognition about reading. The scale is also significantly correlated with students' interest, self-concept, and self-efficacy in reading. On the other hand, no correlation was shown between their use of ICT, and their interest and perceived self-efficacy in their use. The results provide evidence that the scale assesses metacognitive knowledge about digital reading rather than digital literacy. The results also demonstrate a strong correlation between the scale and reading proficiency.

In the last decade, due to the lack of teachers in Quebec, the province has welcomed a significant number of foreign-trained teachers (MEES, 2018). Research on their learning assessment skills shows that, for those teachers who get used to the standards and values of the culture of assessment for sanction in their native countries, taking into account the professionnal conventions in their host environment is a major issue to their socio-professional integration (Morrissette & Demazière, 2018a). Drawing on the theoretical approach of the social justice of Rawls (1971), we conducted a collaborative research with a group of six teachers trained in foreign countries from “meritocratic” backgrounds, to shed light on their adaptation to the ethics of differentiated assessment. The analyzes suggest a consentement that developped under the rhythm of negotiated identity conversion process through a socialization of resourcefulness in four phases: negation, discovery, learning, involvement.

This research is devoted to the analysis, from an aesthetic perspective, of a type of mechanism that emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic: “operatic video clips”. Their emergence was the result both of institutional strategies and of individual artists' initiatives, aimed at making artistic practice possible during confinement. We will begin by analyzing this phenomenon from a global perspective, and then focus on a project carried out by the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón (isatc): CasasdeÔpera (“Opera Houses”). Our aim is to show how, in the context of the pandemic, the video clip established itself as a means of renewing and disseminating the operatic genre, as well as transmitting social messages adapted to the situation. Based on our case study, we intend to demonstrate how these mechanisms emerged as a result of the context's specific material and socio-cultural circumstances, as well as the socio-political implications to which they were subjected.
