This article proposes to study research-creation by considering our embodied relationship to the world. It is an approach that tends to reject the ontological distance implied by positivism. Often subversive, research-creation itself blurs disciplinary thresholds and undermines positivist logic. The lesser-known La zona del silencio collective project, set up in the Mexican desert between 1984 and 1985, bought together twelve artists with diverse disciplinary backgrounds from Mexico, Germany, Canada, and the Cree Nation. The environmental complexity of the site, the transnational dimension of the project and the cultural plurality of the group incited the artists to connect and to form a community. La zona del silencio offers an alternative vision of contemporary art that can be compared to Arturo Escobar's concept of sentipensar con la tierra and that, in some ways, resonates with the words of Édouard Glissant. This case study demonstrates how research-creation has a disruptive and transformative potential.

This essay offers some guidelines to approach the ethical and political dimensions of the transdisciplinary concept of ecoformation. This focal point is justified taking into account the current debates about the evidences of increasing social and ecological disasters at the global level. The ecocentric approach in the field of contemporary political thinking is highlighted and related to advances in complex, self-organizing systems research. The autopoietic-enactive model of cognition drawn up by Francisco Varela, including his dialogue with the Buddhist philosophy of the “middle way”, is connected to the quest of a paradigmatic rupture with the industrialist worldview. From this perspective, the concept of ecoformation is considered as an inescapable lever to unveil the strategic options we still dispose to avoid reaching the point of no-return.

Objectives To examine the transfer of knowledge in psychiatry, longitudinally, over more than 35 years, through the 4 editions of the manual “Psychiatrie clinique” published in Quebec, thanks to the initiative of the publication directors affiliated with the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (formerly the Louis-H. Lafontaine Hospital). Our hypothesis is that the evolution of the content and form of such a manual reflects an evolution of knowledge in psychiatry with a naturally educational vocation which of what must be known and applicable in the discipline. We expect, in our longitudinal examination, to identify the evolution of this knowledge transfer and the contexts of this change.

Colourful plastic on a beach, tractors on the foreshore, sheds in the salt marshes… The stage is set to describe the use of photography in research on the occupational group of oyster farmers. This article explores the methodological process of a pioneering sociology that uses images in a study, exploring the status of these images. Three corpuses of photographs were used to further our understanding of this profession, which has seen the upward trajectories of both individuals and collectives hampered by the environmental crisis. The social identity of these oyster farmers vacillates between tradition and the search for a certain image of modernity, which tends to appear as a recurrent rejection of disorder. Their historical culture of working with hazards, including, to a certain degree, climate change, encourages them to engage in new adaptation strategies.

Since the implementation of the first Mental Health Action Plan in Quebec (MSSS, 2005), the Ministry of Health and Social Services has placed significant emphasis on collaborative care, a model that has been increasingly adopted across canadian provinces since 2011 (Kates et al., 2023). While interprofessional collaboration is widely recognized as an essential strategy for delivering high-quality care (McNeil et al., 2013) and safeguarding patient well-being, there remains a paucity of research examining the interaction between social interventions and medical treatment within the context of mental health care. What potential opportunities exist for collaboration between these two professions? How can their respective expertise in assessment, intervention planning, and shared decision-making contribute to improved patient outcomes and the overall quality of care? This article examines strategies for co-constructing shared professional domains, with a particular focus on the role of social workers. We argue that advancing such collaboration requires a critical examination of power dynamics between professional groups, the fostering of creative solutions, and the recognition and respect for the distinct knowledge systems inherent to each profession.
