The independant format ion cross-sections of ^139Ba, ^139ce, ^141La , ^141ce, and ^143ce and the cumulative formation cross-sections of ^139Cs, ^141Ba, and ^143La produced in the fission of natural uranium by protons of energies 20-85 MeV have been measured radiochemically. Excitation functions were constructed and the proton energies at which the excitation functions reach their maxima fall on a smooth curve when plotted against neutron-to-proton ratio of the product. Nuclear charge dispersion curves were constructed at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 85 MeV. The general behaviour is similar to that observed by previous workers. Several techniques were compared for the nutritive evaluation of grazed forage. It was shown that esophageal samples were more representative of the grazing animal's diet than clipped samples. High drying temperature affected the intake values obtained by different indicator methods. Results showed that the chromogen ratio and the lignin ratio methods could give relatively accurate and similar intake values provided the correct MEC combinations for chromogen and VanSoest's procedure for lignin were used. In vitro cellulose digestibility and animal behaviour studies suggested that the NVI computed using the lignin ratio method gave more meaningful results particularly for aftermath forages. During the period between Slave Emancipation in 1834, and the publication of the Report of the Royal West Indian Cormrission in 1897, important changes took place in the economies of the British West Indian Islands. The literature on insect cuticle is considerable. Wigglesworth (1956) wrote: "The key to much of the physiology of insects is to be found in the nature of their cuticle." We should not be surprised, therefore, that so much information has been gathered on the subject. But this information is manifold. The aim of the present experiments was to determine to what extent and under what conditions inter-lingual interference could be produced in the bilingual version of a color-word task. Chapter II first reviews several theories of the nature of the interference found in the color-word task and then presents a new theoretical formulation, drawing on an information processing model, applicable to the bilingual situation. This study describes several methods used to analyse a changing computer system. The effects of these changes on the operating system and the overall Computing Centre are demonstrated. The problem of limiting a random process is considered. The output autocorrelation function of a smooth limiter is determined as a function of the limiter parameters. A stationary gaussian random process of zero mean and arbitrary autocorrelation function is assumed for the input. The transfer characteristic of the limiter is defined by a translated error function. This definition permits the study of smooth limiting with various degrees of limiting and bias.
