176.More information
This article deals with the patrimonialization of an item protected by UNESCO's Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2010: “Falconry, a living human heritage.” After a brief description of falconry, by means of which its intangible essence is noted, the author continues to analyze the process which integrates it into the sphere of world heritage. This seems to indicate that such a project's success remains compromised by the difficulties of mediatizing it in the public space. This investigation leads then to the identification of three semiotic issues underlying these problems and hopes thus to lead to a reflection in the sphere of museology, with the goal of placing the intangible on the level of its principal research concerns.
