The entire body of work of theologian and philosopher Paul Tillich is permeated by a desire to shape the expression of the Christian mystery in ontological terms (Sesboüé, 1981). Tillichian soteriology focuses on man’s existential conditions as a form of alienation from its essentially good nature. Man would experience the passage from essence to existence in a symbolic manner where, contiguously or successively, he would be inhabited by the phases of dreamy innocence (the Garden of Eden), the fall (sin), and then the possibility of salvation (reversal), in which he would have to « accept to be accepted despite the fact that he feels unacceptable » (Tillich, 1949 : 267). The Tree of Life, by director Terrence Malick, lets us accompany members of a family, which is faced with the loss of one of their sons, each member going through phases that we will analyze based on Tillichian soteriology (dreamlike innocence, sin, fall, and salvation).

After the terrible fire of Notre-Dame de Paris in April of this year 2019, many articles have been published on the subject. Of course, the cliché wellpensant is the order of the day. Responding to a call from Gérard Wormser, the founder of Sens Public, I offer here to the readers of SP an excerpt from my intertext La Guérison, where it is about Dante (reincarnated under the guise of an Indian Araucan) and his stays in Paris on horseback (it is the case to say it) between the XIIIth and XIVth centuries and his walks in the district of the Sorbonne and the cathedral. The comic is a good counterweight to the tragic. (The reader can find on my website – www.roberto-gac.com – the beginning of the book, published under the heading “novel” by the Editions of the Difference, but as an “Intertext” by Create Space).

This pilot study focuses on the use of assistive technologies (AT) by elementary school students, educated in French, who were identified with reading and writing difficulties (AT group, n = 25). The aim of this study is to assess whether assistive technologies improved their reading comprehension, spelling errors, and academic self-concept. A comparison group of average achieving peers (n = 22) is included to examine whether the gap in scores of the two groups is reduced over time. The results show that between the two time periods, students in the AT group reduce their spelling errors, and after just five months using assistive technologies, they even got comparable performances to their normally achieving peers. In reading comprehension and academic self-concept, the interaction effects are not significant. The implications for academic success and future research are discussed.

This article proposes a general theory of urban scenes. Urban scenes are positioned here as mutidimensional vectors of meanings embedded into concrete local practices. The article presents methods of empirical measure of urban scenes, and also wants to show how some of the latter provide a suitable environment for new social movements (NSM). In spite of the universalist and cosmopolitanism dimensions of NSM, their dynamics and supports are closely rooted in the specific qualities of local contexts.

AbstractPsychosocial prevention is often, and mistakenly, disparaged or approached with unwarranted familiarity. A number of factors could provide a partial explanation for this mistake: confused rea-tions to the medical model, an unfortunate association of the terms "preventive" and "community," lack of distinction between three levels of prevention, misunderstandings around the concept of risk factor, and an overly general definition of the concept of promotion. One specific fact about psychopathology is that it does not fit well into the dichotomous "before / after" appearance of symptoms. This is why the preventive field must identify its targets in terms of etiological rather than symptomological factors. Thus, for us, true prevention must include only proactive interventions meant either for neutralization of pathological influences, or for promotion of areas that are aimed at making the population healthier.

Objectives This article provides an overview of the approaches and instruments used to assess the risk of other-directed violence, with particular focus on risk formulation. Issues pertaining to the development and implementation of these instruments are briefly reviewed.Method A critical analysis of the literature pertaining to the methods and current issues related to risk assessment of other-directed violence is proposed. Results Violence risk assessment instruments are used to manage offenders struggling with mental health issues. They help inform decisions regarding monitoring, supervision, treatment and sentencing in correctional and forensic mental health settings. There are different approaches to violence risk assessment and numerous instruments offered to professionals working in these settings. Considering the structured professional judgement (SPJ) tools, they have considerably evolved in the last years with regard to the types of violence and the methods used to assess and manage risk. Examples of these innovations include taking into consideration victim safety planning and strategies to facilitate risk communication such as scenario planning based on an explanatory framework informed by risk formulation. Risk formulation is a relatively new step in the administration SPJ tools, and invites users to go beyond documenting the presence and relevance of specific risk factors by allowing them to consider the nature and the etiology of violence in an individualized manner. Risk formulation integrates both relevant risk and protective factors that facilitate the process of scenario planning and the identification of successful risk management strategies. Conclusion Although structured approaches to violence risk assessment of offenders struggling with mental health issues have become more and more frequent in many settings, some methodological and implementation issues still have to be tackled. In spite that these issues warrant further discussion based on new empirical data, their contribution to risk reduction and to the success of social rehabilitation of the individuals at the centre of these assessments is undeniable.
