This article intends to acknowledge Jeanne Lapointe (1915-2006) first literature professor at LavalUniversity (1940-1987), as an intellectual, an architect of the Quiet Revolution, and as a key figure of the feminist movement in the Province of Québec. Jeanne Lapointe is particularly known for her exceptional involvement in two decisive Royal Inquiry Commissions : the Parent Report (1961-1966) about education in the Province of Québec, and the Bird Report (1967-1970) on women's condition in Canada. She also received the first Elsie-Gregory-MacGill Award in 1986 for her dedication in feminist and multi-disciplinary activities. Within the scope of this article, we will mainly focus on the unknown aspects of her career, which were revealed after her death with the creation of the Jeanne Lapointe funds (at the LavalUniversity archives) and Claudia Raby's research "Le parcours critique de Jeanne Lapointe" (2007). Jeanne Lapointe's lifework allows us to better measure her contribution to Canadian and Québec societies, modern literature, and postmodern thinking. Her collaboration to the Cité Libre magazine, and to the critique and life of the Québec literature had major impacts. Her dissertation "Humanisme et humanités", presented in May 1958, showed her foresight and audacity, especially when considering the position of the academic institution at the time. Her passion for literature and the world of education, her constant concern about dialogue, her fervent feminism and her ethical sensibility are thus enriched.

The context of sexology is unique in Quebec, particularly because of the training, the practice context and the recent regulations. The creation of the Professional Order of Sexologists of Quebec in 2013 marks a decisive moment for the recognition of the profession of sexologist. Although some researchers have been interested in the profession of sexologist in Quebec and elsewhere, no study seems to have explored precisely the professional identity of sexologists. Yet, some studies indicate that the construction of their professional identity would pose some difficulties. This exploratory research aims to answer the following question: What are the obstacles to the construction of the professional identity of sexologists? This research is based primarily on Dubar's (2010) model of professional socialization and was conducted through 25 one-on-one interviews with undergraduates in sexology, with or without other degrees. The results indicate that the main barrier to the construction of professional identity is that the collective identity is still under definition because of the recent creation of the profession and the regulation, as well as the diversity of the field of practice. The results of the study provide a better understanding of the processes contributing to the construction of the professional identity of sexologists: they can provide elements of reflection for both the academic world and the field of practice.

SUMMARYIn this, the last section of a long article, the author paints a picture, both clinical and theoretical, of institutional analysis. To accomplish this he uses his experience in a Montreal psychiatric hospital. One can see in the text the articulating mechanisms of institutional analysis in practice, and the internal and external resistances to which such an approach gives rise. One can also become aware of certain results obtained by such an approach and of what it can upset within conventional structures.

AbstractDrug addiction and personality disorder : reflection on treatment The experience of a treatment in cooccurring disorders of drug addiction and mental health has allowed to document the intervention with people presenting one or more personality disorders. This article describes the integrated program in which is inserted the trajectory of these people. The article highlights the complexity of their clinical portrait as well as the implications of the most current interventions in their treatment. It also underlines some critical moments of this clientele's path. Clinical vignettes are presented to better illustrate remarks. The authors' reflection leads to reconsidering conditions of the intervention. The avenue proposed is that of a differienciated, intermittent but continuous treatment. The possibility of a long term individual treatment for clients adopting this mode, is also considered. This range of possibilities would better respond to the specific chronicity of these two disorders.

Objective: This paper presents a vision of mental health using the model of psychological flexibility of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is a representative approach of the third wave of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). This article first describes the theoretical and practical aspects of ACT and, in a second part, reviews some of the empirical data supporting its clinical use. Due to the high rate of comorbidity in mental health settings, transdiagnostic approaches in CBT, such as ACT, have recently become popular and particularly appealing to various clinical settings. Method: The theoretical aspects underlying ACT, as well as its clinical components in the treatment of psychopathology were described based on major books in this area, such as Hayes, Strosahl and Wilson (2012). A descriptive literature review was undertaken to explore the data on the efficacy of ACT for the treatment of mental health problems. Psycinfo and Medline, as well as the Association for Contextual Science website were analyzed for relevant articles. The key search terms were: “Acceptance and Commitment therapy” or “ACT” or “acceptance” or “mindfulness” or “defusion.” The reference lists of the articles retrieved were also analyzed. The articles that were not in English or French were excluded. Results: Data suggest that ACT is particularly effective for stress, anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse and various chronic medical conditions. The six processes of the model of psychological flexibility have been validated based on the results of correlational and meditational studies. More than seventy randomized clinical trials and a meta-analysis including 18 randomized control trials conclude that ACT is more effective than waiting list, placebo and treatment as usual control conditions. Conclusion: ACT is a promising and evidence-based approach in mental health for the treatment of anxiety and depression as well as for complex and chronic conditions. More research is needed to further validate its theoretical model and further refine our understanding of how ACT could be effective for the management of mental health illness and how it could enhance quality of life for people who suffer from these conditions.

SUMMARYTaking into account the processes involved in self-centered writing and the reasons put forward in specialised literature to justify the value of self-revelation in mental health, this research tries to verify and compare, in a school environment, the effectiveness of two programs geared towards self-revelation. They are: The Intensive Journal (Ira Progoff, 1977) and Innerchange (Ball & Palomares, 1977). Four groups of professional secondary level male students took part in this research for a semester. From this experience, it appears possible to initiate such programs in a school environment in order to help students develop certain personal abilities.
