AbstractFifty-two female sexual abuse victims aged 12 to 17 years old were interviewed as part of a research project. They were recruited in three different settings : Centre jeunesse de Montreal, Centre jeunesse de la Montérégie and Centre d'intervention en abus sexuel pour la famille (CIASF) in Gatineau. The aim of the project was to document the prevalence of suicidal ideations in the sample and to explore the coping strategies (seeking social support, problem-solving and avoidance/distanciation) used by participants to face the sexual abuse. Moreover, the relationship between coping strategies and the presence/absence of suicidal ideations was investigated. Results indicate that sexually abused adolescents who present high suicidal intent differ from non-suicidal or low intent suicidal participants with regards to coping strategies used to face the sexual abuse. Finally, in light of the results, therapeutic implications are discussed to guide clinical workers who intervene with teenagers displaying this double problem (sexual abuse and suicidal thoughts).

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a common and severe disorder characterized by unstability of self-image, unstable affect, and unstable interpersonal relationships. Women with BPD would give birth as much as other women, but according to several studies, BPD mothers have a reduced sensitivity to their babies and a poor interpretation of their emotions; this would interfere in mother-baby interaction and in psycho-affective development of the baby, with the risk to develop psychiatric pathologies in adulthood. In this context several professionals have developed different interventions for mothers suffering from BPD.

The encounter with a suicidal person in social work is both inevitable and highly anxiety-provoking for the practitioner. However, suicide prevention training in social work programs is not mandatory, neither at the bachelor's nor master's level. Suicide prevention relies on individualized and arbitrary choices of either schools, departments, or even professors themselves. This inconsistency should concern the discipline of social work at two levels. First, it is detrimental to the psychological and physical integrity of the suicidal or distressed person when they meet with a social worker. Second, it is detrimental to the psychological integrity of the social worker as they are challenged with a situation that presents a high risk of self-harm. Social work education needs to be mended accordingly. This article is a detailed teaching narrative on a structured, peer-based simulation aiming at improving suicide prevention training among social work students. It explores how this model brings to the forefront a rich and complex interaction between knowledge, skills acquisition, and self-regulation in response to suicidal distress.

The author of this article proposes to shift the focus usually placed on the conflict of patients toward the subjectivity of the clinician. He thus questions his identity as a metapsychologically oriented psychotherapist and his counter-transferential challenges in working with transgender adults in an institutional setting. By narrating the vicissitudes of the psychoanalytical psychotherapy of David, a composite case stemming from the treatment of several individuals with atypical gender identifications, the author describes the various means of clinical metareflection that he considered in order to adjust his stance, which was systematically compromised by the patient's issues as well as his own prejudices and unconscious reactions. He further describes how the contemporary context of trans identities shaped by activism and political correctness is likely to hamper the analytical vocation to explore the unconscious, which is intrinsically a-normative and politically incorrect.

Context In Quebec, adult mental health (AMH) first-line teams are mandated to provide psychosocial services to people living with mental health difficulties, including anxiety and mood disorders. Following the establishment of new clinical guidelines in 2017, the duration of interventions was not to exceed 15 sessions, with some exceptions.
