This article describes the results of a study of the reception of the enhanced digital edition of La Croisade des Enfants by Marcel Schwob. Using experience acquired during the conception of the work, carried out jointly by the “Lectures et mediations numériques” group (CELLAM-Rennes 2) in collaboration with the Loustic group (Rennes), the study team combined quantitative and qualitative data obtained from 44 students in order to evaluate the motivation prompted by the enhanced version of the digital book compared to the non-enhanced version, and also to analyse how readers approached the enhanced version and what reading postures it aroused in them. The article focuses on the appropriation of the enhanced edition in order to evaluate the degree and type of appropriation implemented by the study subjects. The results are somewhat different from those expected: the reading postures encountered are above all based on contextualizing reading. Finally, the results of the study raise the question of what factors may further the appropriation of an enhanced work, among which reading habits and the prevailing discourse on the cultural legitimacy of enhanced digital works seem predominant. These results make it possible to recommend various types of mediation allowing the reader to exploit the full potential of this type of work.

In June 2016, the WHO officially declares the end of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) epidemic in the Mano River countries. Four years later, while writing my doctoral dissertation on Ebola, the threat of a coronavirus outbreak from Wuhan emerged, generating a form of scientific uncertainty. This reflexive article first documents how the occurrence of the Covid-19 epidemic impacted the progress of a doctoral research project on Ebola, both through the abundant bibliographic data and through the opportunity of an incorporated epidemic experience that invited me to question established analyses and hypotheses while modifying my relationship with field data and respondents. In the second part, based on an ethnography in a Covid-19 screening center in Abidjan, I identify similarities and continuities in the management of these two epidemics (MVE and Covid-19) and their popular reception.

The «filologo napoletano» Emmanuele Rocco is a figure of some prominence in Italian linguistic culture of the middle and second half of the 19th century. A polygraph journalist and lively polemicist, as well as a first-rate lexicographer, Rocco was one of the main compilers of the Vocabolario universale italiano known as Tramater and was the author, among other things, of a collection of several thousand additions and corrections to Italian lexicography and, above all, of a monumental historical dictionary of Neapolitan, compiled in full but discontinued in print at the entry for feletto. This article aims in particular to outline Rocco's ideas and position in the context of nineteenth-century discussions around neologisms.
