A portrait of Mario Bertoncini, pianist, composer, inventor and medium of windborne sounds, completes this issue devoted to performance. Memories of his courses within the Musical Design program at McGill University—evoked by two former students, Charles de Mestral and Andrew Culver, Bertonici's own platonic dialogue between master and student—as well as the portrait painted by John Rea, help us to better understand, if not actually discover, "an extraordinarily imaginative artist" who has certainly marked a generation of performers and composers.
