This article analyzes the treatment of a film Pier Paolo Pasolini never made, Porno-Teo-Kolossal. It proposes to demonstrate that the four worlds that the two protagonists cross in it can be understood as variations on utopia: utopia, dystopia, uchronia and atopia. The first three correspond to the narrativization of the awareness of a Europe in the process of homologation and facing authoritarian and fascist powers, while the fourth corresponds to what Pasolini saw as a potentiality coming from the global south. This path should be seen as “revolutionary,” not in a teleological sense but rather in the sense of the Latin word revolutio, meaning “return to the start.” This reading of Porno-Teo-Kolossal will make it possible to understand a conception of political engagement based on an endless sequence shot which is irreducible to the operation of montage-death.

The contrastive analysis of the songs from The Wizard of Oz (2011) with both the French subtitles (2013) and French stage adaptation (by Stéphane Laporte in 2014) shows that a singable translation is not limited to linguistic transfer. This study highlights the difficulties and requirements imposed by these two modes of translation (for instance, space and time constraints in the case of the former; rhythmic and musical constraints for the latter) to recreate this type of songs. Focusing on syllables and the rhyme, our comparison reveals that the subtitler and the stage adapter endeavor to preserve the rhythm, prosody, and singability of the original songs.
