Le ciné-tourisme est phénomène en constante évolution, influencé par les sorties au cinéma, à la télévision et sur les plateformes de diffusion. L’engouement pour une oeuvre cinématographique incite des visiteurs de tous horizons à se rendre sur les lieux de tournage : des spectateurs se transforment alors en voyageurs, dans l’espoir de vivre une expérience immersive dans un lieu où réel et imaginaire s’entremêle. Ces nouveaux flux touristiques génèrent une série d’impacts notables sur les territoires concernés : pression sur les infrastructures, changements socioculturels, opportunités économiques mais aussi nécessité de préservation patrimoniale. My creative thesis is an immersive historical fantasy novella. As a novella, my work primarily focuses on character development. Novellas are uncommon to the genre, yet Patrick Rothfuss and Mercedes Lackey have standalone and supplemental novellas. My novella challenges pre-existing genre conventions by introducing the ideas such as the hero’s journey, only dash them. My manuscript is set in an alternate world, and features characters exploring liminal spaces where they struggle with the ever-present tension between monstrosity and humanity. My work is influenced by J. R. R. Tolkien, Guy Gavriel Kay, and George R. R. Martin. Kay’s harkening to ages past influences my setting, as antiquity offers more charm than a well-traversed setting; as such, I do not use the romanticised medieval setting. I aim …

This study begins with an examination of the background against which was founded the annual Music-Week in Montreal (1923–1937), then presents an analysis of its system of operation, inspired by the American model created in 1920 by Charles Milton Tremaine. Information on the staff of the association, its sponsors, financial grants, concert venues, performers, repertory, and lecturers is discussed; the main points of the press reviews of the events are extracted. The anglophone-francophone cultural dualism with regard to the conception of music and of its role in education emerges clearly in the conclusion, which also highlights the active role of women in the running of organizations destined to spread music in Quebec.

If we aim to offer translation education that prepares our students adequately for their future professional career, it is important to recognise the different subcultures of translation, particularly those of professional translators and translation academics/teachers. The present study describes how the subculture of working translators theorise their practice, specifically, what concepts they use when they justify their translations. Seventeen Japanese/English translators, all commercially successful professionals who work in the UK, were interviewed about their experience of conflictive situations with their clients. In this article, I present an analysis of their justifications of their translation choices using a grounded theory approach. The analysis identifies the concept of the Role of Participants as the most prominent concept in the translators' discourse. It also highlights several sub-concepts which relate to the main concept in intricate ways. These sub-concepts include Relationship, Knowledge of Language, Time and Effort, Authority and Natural/Literal Translation. The translators' theorization is compared with classroom discourse about translation and the differences and similarities are discussed.
