Anticipations of future and differentiation of relations to politics of youths from the working class. An ethnographic inquiry in Parisian suburbs – Through an ethnographic survey based on the complementarity of observations and of in-depth interviews in Parisian suburbs, the article points out that relations to politics of youths from the working class are differentiated and partly linked to contrasting anticipations of the future. The configurational analysis of their social characteristics emphasizes several attitudes regarding the political world. If many youths from the working class are not much invested, such non-involvement can be read on many different levels. As the majority of youth, some of them consider an eventual involvement while others exclude it, under different forms. Socialization by anticipation of a few, with particular social characteristics, encourages their political involvement. This article thus underlines the importance of the anticipation of the future, linked to other characteristics, to understand the differentiation of the relations to politics of youths from working class.

This text introduces the transformations and challenges now found in general adult training in Quebec, an educative sector that intends to make basic training available for everyone. It describes the principal social, demographic, cultural and economic factors that play a role in important changes in the organization and the offer and benefits of educational services, training and accompaniment. The account especially emphasizes the challenges posed by the emergence of new profiles for adult learners, the establishment of a new curriculum and the implementation of mechanisms for recognizing acquired competencies. The authors recall several studies that reflect these changes while emphasizing that research carried out in this field neglects certain issues. In conclusion, the analysis notices that the evolution observed is not strictly one of change or adaptation but rather one of a systemic transformation that tends to modify the primary mission of basic training.
