Presentation

Études Inuit Studies, a semi-annual scholarly journal, has published since 1977. It is devoted to studying traditional and contemporary Inuit societies from Canada, Alaska to Greenland and Siberia from a broad social science and humanities perspective (ethnology, politics, law, archaeology, linguistics, history, etc.). Over the years, the journal has become a central meeting point of a vast scientific communications network open to all disciplines and scientific horizons. Each volume contains articles, book summaries, science information and yearly reviews of doctoral theses and articles that have appeared in other journals.

A subscription is required to have access to issues disseminated in the last 12 months of publication for this journal.

Individual digital subscription: individuals wanting to subscribe to the digital version of the journal are invited to communicate directly with the journal:

Institutional digital subscription: Institutions (library, documentation centre, school, etc.) have the possibility to subscribe to Érudit journals by title or by title package. For more information, we invite institutions to fill out our subscription form.

Print version subscription: we made the decision to no longer offer a subscription to the print version. However, upon special request, it is possible to order a batch of print issues. Contact us for more information :

Publication rules

Subject matter and scope

The journal Études Inuit Studies has its office in the Centre interuniversitaire d’études et de recherches autochtones (CIÉRA), at Université Laval in Quebec City. Études Inuit Studies is devoted to the study of traditional and contemporary Inuit societies by all branches of social science (anthropology, political science, law, archaeology, linguistics, history, etc.). It is the pivot of a vast network of academic communication, which is open to all disciplines and all fields of enquiry, as long as they are Inuit-related.

Études Inuit Studies is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original and groundbreaking scholarly work in all areas of Inuit research. Études Inuit Studies publishes papers and review articles at least twice a year in both French and English, as well as papers by international researchers who have been identified by the editors as people who are making important contributions that will interest its readership.

Études Inuit Studies accepts articles written in either English or French. Abstracts of articles are published in both languages, in English and French. If an abstract is submitted in one language, it will be translated by Études Inuit Studies. Introductions to special theme issues are published in both languages. If an introduction is submitted in one of the two languages, it will be translated into the other by Études Inuit Studies.
